Welcome To Rowville Little Athletics Club

The big day has finally arrived, and for many at Knox LAC they thought they would never see it. After many years, the much-awaited upgrades to the Knox Park complex will commence this week.

When is this going to happen?

As of Monday the 4th the complex will be closed for the upgrades to be completed and will remain closed until mid/late June. At present the whole complex will be closed but the Board of Management are seeking permission to have access to the pavilion and the underneath of the grandstand ( for the gym, indoor training and meetings) – this is pending agreement and approval by the Council and contractors and an update re this will be on the website.

What will definitely be closed and off limits is:

·         the entire track( including run offs)
·         the infield (including discus cages & the HJ/Jav areas
·         the LJ/TJ areas, polevault & shotput
·         the front of the grandstand ( paths/stairs) and all paths and areas around the outside of the track

Access to these areas will not be available at all during the upgrade period.

What is being done?

·         The current synthetic surface of the track, HJ/Jav area and LJ/TJ area will be removed and a new synthetic surface laid
·         The asphalt areas at both HJ areas will be removed and re-asphalted and a synthetic surface laid
·         A second javelin runup will be constructed between the two discus cages
·         The area in front of and beneath the shadesails will be rehabilitated – the work to be done is yet to be finalized but hopefully will include a full concrete surface under the shadesails
·         Refurbishment of the grandstand toilets

The complex will be controlled by the Council and contractor during this period – this is for security and safety purposes.
